Happy Memorial Day!

Well, happy Memorial Day everyone! Looks like it's going to be nice weather this weekend, but HOT!! It's 90 degrees here today. Jeremy is working at the range so the girls and I are doing lots of fun stuff at home. They've been enjoying "tummy time" a lot lately...they look so cute when they start kicking their little legs but they don't really go anywhere yet! When Hannah does move it always seems to be backwards! Poor kid, she's all confused about this crawling stuff! :) Here are a few pictures I took when they woke up from their nap today. Savannah is left and Hannah is right

I've been meaning to put these pictures up all week from when my parents came last weekend. We had a GREAT time with them and Jeremy and I got to go on a date, which is always nice. :)

These pictures were taken last Saturday when we spent the day at Mount Vernon (George Washington's home). It's about 10 minutes from our house, so we thought it would be fun and easy with the girls. They loved looking around and so did we! The weather was beautiful...slightly chilly but comfortable for walking around. It was a really fun day.

This is the mansion. Jeremy took this picture while we were waiting in line to take a tour of the inside. Unfortunately they don't allow pictures inside, but it was pretty neat. It had quite a few bedrooms since back in those days it was common for complete strangers to knock on your door and ask to stay with you for the night. There was a guide in each room telling us little tidbits of info about the Washington's...it was cool. We also got to see the actual bed that our first president passed away in. He died of a severe throat infection (basically tonsilitis) that caused his throat to swell shut...a lot of things we never knew before. Here are some other things we got to see:
These were some of the fruit trees in the orchard. They grew lots of pears, apples, prunes and cherries.
These little piglets were SO cute! They were all taking a nap except for one. He was running around looking for food with his momma. I was joking that that little pig was like my Hannah...never wants to take naps!
This is a memorial for all the slaves that worked this plantation. There are literally hundreds of acres that were worked, so there must've been quite a few slaves!
And finally...this is where George Washington is buried. I thought it was neat that above this tomb inscribed on the wall was I John 5:12 which says, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." How neat that literally billions of people have come to visit Mount Vernon and have read this verse...straight to the point, plain and simple! We had a great time and are hoping to go back again sometime. If you want to see it, come visit us!
