Update

This past Tuesday Jeremy and I had to take the girls to the doctor. I noticed last weekend they had colds, but they seemed to just be getting worse every day. The doc said they were just bad colds and that their coughing was a little worse than he expected for just a regular cold, but that all he could give us was Tylenol and that we should do the humidifier in their room. (You can tell I am still a "new" Mom because looking back I should've insisted he give us something more than Tylenol! What was I thinking???) Anyway...we went home and did what the doctor said and they just kept getting more and more congested. Wednesday night we were up until about 2:30 a.m. trying to get them both asleep...they were SO miserable and I felt so helpless and frustrated!
Thanksgiving morning Jeremy got up with the girls and let me sleep in for awhile since it had been a long night...I was laying in bed and I heard Hannah coughing out in the livingroom and it scared me so bad! I knew she had to go back to the doctor and that we couldn't wait! I was afraid the poor kid was gonna have pneumonia if I waited any longer. Savannah was still sick, but definitely not as bad, so I took a shower and then headed with Hannah to the ER to see what they could do. The doctor and nurses seemed a little worried about her cough being so bad. They said she has an Upper Respiratory Infection, so they gave her a breathing treatment with a nebulizer (which Hannah HATED!!!). It must have worked though, cuz as soon as we were finished she fell asleep and slept on the hospital bed for a good 15 or 20 minutes. Poor kid...so much drama for such a little girl!!! :( Anyway...after that they sent us home with an inhaler and cough medicine for them. We've been doing the inhaler every 4 hrs. and the cough medicine 4 times a day. They have helped tremendously!!! (Now if we could just get them to eat better things will be pretty much back to normal!) Now they are playing and SMILING again, too!
Ya know, as I was leaving the hospital I was thinking that even though our Thanksgiving was pretty lousy this year, I am so thankful that we live in a country where we don't have to worry about getting medicines. I can't imagine watching my child suffer and not being able to do anything about it. I think that's something we take for granted so often. I don't think I'll be as quick to complain about the wait in line at the pharmacy and I definitely won't take "ordinary" days for granted anymore!!
Here are some pictures from today...
