Proverbs 13:7

The verse at the top of our blog is a verse that I read in my devotions today. I was sitting in the car right before I headed into work and it hit home to me. Christmas is supposed to be a time when we reflect on what God has done for us through sending Christ into the world as a baby - to live, and eventually die to give us the gift of eternal life. But somehow every year we get caught up in the decorating, the presents, the food, the buying and shopping...and we forget what it's all really about. I have to admit that I'm pretty ashamed of my attitude lately because I could have all the money in the world to buy expensive gifts for myself and my family, but have a miserable Christmas and miss out on the blessings that the Lord wants to give me when my focus in on Him. So, I guess I'm trying to say that for all of you out there stressing about gifts and decorations, don't forget that Jesus is what we celebrate and that it is when we make ourselves poor that we become the most rich.
